Positivity at the office

Whether you’re the employee or the employer, you can make a difference by being a positive presence in your workplace (even if you are still working from home).
“In every day, there are 1,440 minutes. That means we have 1,440 daily opportunities to make a positive impact.” Les Brown
As humans we aren’t wired to focus on the positive, but practicing positivity can overcome our natural “negativity” bias. This will leave us happier, more creative and influence those around us to do the same.
Here are a few ways in which you can spread positivity at the office:
- Shoutouts – Acknowledge your colleagues’ contributions and wins. Compliments cost nothing, but knowing they are valued is priceless.
- Celebrate – Make a note to celebrate birthdays or even when they have completed an exam or course. When you share an office, every moment shared celebrating will go towards building a stronger team.
- Volunteer – When a colleague needs help, offer to lend a helping hand… even if it is not your job. We all need help sometimes.
- Hello – Be the one that smiles and greets your colleagues – and never be the one to spread the gossip. Just as negativity is contagious, so is positivity.
“Positive thinking will let you do everything better than negative thinking will.” Zig Ziglar
